Sustainability Services:

We act as the Corporate Sustainability Officer for corporations which do not have dedicated staff for this function, working directly with C-level executives. For more progressive corporations, we will work directly with CSO’s, Facilities Managers, Research Departments, and Analysts to bring them access to our wide knowledge base. Our services in sustainability fall under four categories: Manufacturing and production, environmentally responsible facilities, office scale conservation, and corporate relations.

Manufacturing and Production:

The core of our sustainability consulting practice is in working with manufacturers to create environmentally responsible products in a cradle-to-cradle system. Our clients are interested in the reduction of waste, energy, and raw materials and must remain in tune with consumers’ demands for healthy products. We help them in the areas of manufacturing, reduction of waste, efficiency, alternative materials, transportation choices, and certification in various green programs.

Facilities Management:

Most companies do not yet have internal staff dedicated to the functions within our purview. Facilities Managers are often tasked with environmental issues, particularly in the areas of carbon and energy management. We will assist facilities managers with: Building Management systems (HVAC systems, power management systems, smart grid), environmentally responsible janitorial products, alternative energy production options (solar, wind, geothermal), and the selection of green building materials. For new facilities, we will provide direction on LEED building practices.

Office Scale Conservation:

This is the first step in creating sustainability consciousness Projects may include office energy conservation, recycling programs, green alternatives to common products, and alternative power sourcing.

Corporate Relations:

Sustainability works best when it is enmeshed in corporate culture. This is accomplished by incorporating sustainability into job descriptions, business plans, and annual goals. We will assist in gaining buy-in from the client’s employees, through training and seminars.
The SEC has determined that climate change impacts are material and must be reported by public companies on Annual Reports. We will assist in formulating evaluating this risk and formulating the report. We create sustainability reports tailored to the company’s individual needs and stakeholders. We then assist the client to meet milestones, inform internal groups of the company’s sustainability strategy, incorporate this strategy into the corporate structure, and track benchmarks. We assist the client every step of the way to both instigate and maintain forward momentum.

Investment Analysis:

We perform due diligence for venture capital, banks, equity finance, institutional investors and M&A. We are particularly helpful on long term infrastructure projects. As part of the due diligence team, we can determine the risks and rewards of individual investments within the framework of sustainablility and climate change. We advise Socially Responsible Investors (SRI) on how to look for strong companies, how to protect their long-term assets from climate change, and how to encourage the corporations they invest in to adopt sustainability efforts.

Climate Change Strategy:

We will work with with C-level executives on strategies which enhance their current capabilities while taking advantage of the world’s physical changes. The world is physically changing in ways that will impact businesses directly. Melting polar ice caps, new trade routes, access to oil, gas, and mineral deposits, agricultural zone shifts, and evolving political borders all create risks and opporunities. We believe these opportunites will become gradually self-evident, but that early adopters, our clients, will have the competitive advantage of seeing them first. This evaluation will be based on risk management, opportunity development, long term planning, and impact evaluations on location and relocation, infrastructure, and investment.
